OMC, the Cornwall-based pioneer in optoelectronics manufacturing, has completed its move into a new, purpose-built manufacturing facility at Candela House on the Cardrew Industrial Estate in Redruth, reflecting an increase in demand for both its bespoke and off-the-shelf optoelectronic solutions. The company – known for its LED and fibre-optic expertise as ‘the problem solvers’ – has seen significant growth in demand for its customer-specific LED backlighting solutions and its industrial fibre-optic datalinks. The move into a state-of-the-art new facility will, they say, enable the company to support this growth as well as develop new solutions.
Explains OMC’s Commercial Director, William Heath: “We have occupied several facilities during our 30+ year history, and are delighted to have now constructed a factory designed specifically for our complex needs. We have dedicated development and assembly departments, as well as specialist test areas and a new machine shop capable of both prototyping and mass component production.”
George Eustice MP, Member of Parliament for Redruth, Camborne & Hayle, officially opened the new facility, saying, “I am delighted to have opened OMC’s new factory here in Redruth. OMC has an impressive global customer base, and is helping to put our area on the map when it comes to manufacturing. I wish the company the very best of luck for its continued success.”
